Think feelings and emotions like a language


I often get patients to think of feelings/emotions like a language. One can be fluent at it, semi fluent, or hardly understand or speak it at all.

But the world and our families speak it don’t they?

So learning it and practicing it is not only important, but critical for our functioning, relationships, and emotional well-being.

The question is, how fluent are we when it comes to the feelings of others and our own feelings/emotions?
