There’s often the belief that counseling is a complex process.
It’s actually quite simple although not easy.
In counseling, we help people with the following 4 key steps.
1. Defuse and “hold space” for their thoughts, feelings, values, identities, perceptions, and narratives in order to get more clarity.
2. Defuse/unhook from the stuff that don’t matter or is outside their control.
3. Then fuse/hook onto the stuff that do matter to them and is within their control.
4. Then repeat.
