Helping our patients to understand the underlying processes of their mental health struggles

In counseling or coaching, fundamentally, we see a lot of mental health struggles are due to one or more of the following processes.

1. Inability to unhook or hold space for the “unhelpful” thoughts, feelings, judgements of others, and things in the outside world.

2. Inability to unhook or hold space for our own “unhelpful” thoughts, feelings, judgements, and things inside our heads.

3. Inability to hold tightly and passionately onto the “helpful” thoughts, feelings, judgments of others, and things in the outside world.

4. Inability to hold tightly and passionately onto our own “helpful” thoughts, feelings, judgments, and things inside our heads.

5. Inability to integrate all of the above in a workable way.

Can you relate?
