I recently came across a comment that pointed out, mindfulness is not about feeling better but it’s more about being better at feeling.
I totally agree. I think the purpose of mindfulness is for clarity in perception of feelings or 5sense data/observation, and “feeling better” is a byproduct rather than a primary aim.
It’s focusing more on the “human being” to balance the “human doing”.
Can one overdo it?
Probably. If one simply “be” rather than “do”, than one can be maladaptive to our current society’s value around “doing” isn’t it?
If one “over-do” without clarity=problems
If one “over-be” without doing also=problems
The big question is, which one do you need more...“be or “do”? The answer will guide you.
